Don’t Forget The Batteries! + Win a $100 Toys R Us Gift Card

Thank-you to P&G and Toy’s R Us for providing  products.

Have you ever purchased a gift for someone and forgot the batteries? I have and it was anything but fun. On my son’s birthday last year, my husband and I surprised him with a gift, it as all cheers and excitement until I realized we didn’t have enough C batteries in the house. In an instant the joyous moment turned into sadness, in order to turn the toy on and use it we needed 6 C batteries, but we only had two. It happened to be a Sunday night and the stores had already closed, poor Jonathan had to wait until Monday after school in order to play with his new birthday toy. I felt awful causing all of that excitement that soon turned into sadness when we realized I didn’t buy the batteries. I now make sure to always check the packaging and see how many batteries are needed and if they are included, if not I make sure to purchase them, and when gifting a toy I gift the batteries needed as well. There’s no fun in getting a toy for a birthday or holiday and not being able to use it.

Hasbro TRANSFORMERS Stomp & Chomp GRIMLOCK

A number of toys like the Hasbro’s TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION STOMP & CHOMP Action Figure come with batteries, but it’s important to remember that they are demo batteries and may not last too long, if they even work. I know I don’t have the only kids that have to turn every single toy on when they are going up and down the toy aisles.

  1. I have my children make list of what they want and start shopping early and online.

Start asking people or hinting ahead. Look for the “hot” items out there. I asked my kids this year to actually look online for ideas for their kids *6 grandkids. AND to link it for me. The kids are still surprised though. Then, I hardly step out of my house. An illness prevents me from shopping within the crowds for years not, and I do NOT miss it. We look at flyers to get the best deal and CALL the stored to see how many an item we need is in stock. We sometimes ask them to hold the item for a few hours, and some stores will do for up to 24 hours, if not a clearance or doorbuster deal. The rest is just common cents. Coupons, coupon codes, and making a list and checking it twice to keep you organized.

  3. Start a stock earlier in the year.

  4. Shopping online makes it stress free for me! I also make a list of what I need and compare prices so I stay within my budget.
