Crockpot Meals: Everything you need to know
Crockpot freezer meals are a great idea and have been a huge time saver the past few months. They are a busy mom’s best friend especially on busy weeknights that are filled with sports. I can take one one of the crockpot meals in a bag out of the freezer, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight and dump it into the crock pot in the morning. When it comes time for dinner we have a home cooked meal without having to worry about what to make. I don’t have to spend an hour prepping and cooking, and best of all – there is minimal mess to clean up, especially when using a crockpot liner.
Having the slow cooker recipes prepared ahead of time has allowed me to spend more time with the kids when they get home from school. Dinner is slow cooking, while I’m running errands or helping with homework. We also save money by ordering take out out less since we already have a meal prepped/planned.
Preparing crockpot meals for a month can be overwhelming. Follow our easy tips and tricks for making freezer meals. The time spent preparing the crockpot freezer recipes will be worth it when you have dinner ready for every day of the month.
Shop the grocery store sales:
Shop the grocery store deals to stock up on meat. I then cut off the fat and freeze chicken breasts individually using fold top sandwich bags. Once individually portioned I place about 6-8 in a gallon zip lock bag with the date and freeze. When I’m ready to prep my crockpot freezer meals I can just grab 2-4 chicken breasts depending on the recipe. I do the same thing with 1 lb portions of ground beef and pork chops. Using the fold top sandwich bags, the meat doesn’t get freezer burn like the store bought packages with Styrofoam. I’m not forced to use the whole package if I don’t need to.
Print Recipes / Make Shopping List.
Search for meal ideas, and print your favorite recipes. Write or print a shopping list based on what ingredients you will need.
Prepare all of the freezer crockpot recipes in one day.
Cut, wash, & chop up veggies. Brown ground beef if needed.
Write the directions and cook time on a gallon sized freezer bag.
List the cooking times, how long to cook on high, and also to cook on low.
Use Baggy clips
If you don’t have a second set of hands to help fill the bags, I recommend these baggy clips. The baggy clips are great and hold the freezer bags open so you can easily fill them.
Use Crockpot Liners:
Reduce the amount of time you spend cleaning up after dinner by using crockpot liners. When dinner is finished, simply remove the slow cooker liner and toss in the trash.
How to store Crockpot Freezer Meals?
Remove as much air and freeze flat. To make the crockpot meals neatly organized in the freezer, try to freeze the meals flat, like a book shelf. If you don’t have a lot of extra space, you can you pieces of cardboard to flash freeze or cutting boards if you have extra. Once they are slightly frozen for a few hours you can remove the cardboard.
What is the best Crockpot to buy?
I purchased a 6 qt programmable Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker in 2015, and have been using it ever since. I can set the temperature on high or low and select a cook time. Once the time is up it automatically switches to warm. This programmable crockpot comes with a thermometer that is great for larger roasts, or whole chickens. Once the internal temp reaches your desired temperate it switches to warm mode.

THANK YOU for sharing 😀
PLEASE HELP. I think all of these ideas are great but id had a question is there a particular brand of brand of bag you use? I’m afraid if I do this with the wrong brand it will spill all over before it would have the chance to freeze. Thank you for your help, I plan on doing this over the weekend
nice job…a woman after my own heart…thank you for sharing all your hard work. will def enjoy trying some of these recipes. we do something very similar around here (have to cook huge volumes for my son on a special diet).
might I suggest that people buy one of those foodsavers to vacuum seal their meals…food will last a very long time that way (always freeze the meal before sucking down the bag…I put the ingredients in a square or rectangle freezer proof dish..then you push out when frozen and stick in the sucker bag…that way when you suck down the bag it is a stackable brick).
another time saver is to take one of these recipes and make 4 times the amount and…that way you are only slicing and dicing once for the same meal…saves prep and clean up time.
Do you cut the meat up into pieces when using 1-2 lbs of pork loin or chicken breast? If so, how small?
