Keep Good Going – My All-Star Children

Uncategorized

This post brought to you by New York Life. All opinions are 100% mine.

Even before my children were born I could imagine myself sitting in the stands cheering them on at hockey. I have always been big into hockey and had hopes that my children would be hockey players as well. T has always been into hockey, becoming obsessed with the Bruins at only a year and a half old, and J quickly caught on. I was excited when they talked about learning how to play hockey this past fall but after the 28 week program ended, they didn’t want to continue on with the summer league, but expressed interest in skating again in the fall. As much as I would have loved to see them continue on, the most important thing, is for them to keep going and to be happy. They’re still young, and want to experience all of the sports, and I will stand behind them 100% for whatever they choose.

After a lot of talk J will be starting baseball in July. He hasn’t stopped talking about how much he loves & wants to play baseball, he’s been talking about it weekly for the past year but as we were signing him up he was scared that he would always drop the ball, and wouldn’t be able to hit the ball with the bat. After hearing how much mom & dad supported him, and seeing dad miss the ball a few times at the batting cages, he is ready to give it a try. It’s important for him to face his fears and to keep going, exploring what he loves.

The “My All-Star Daughter” video reminds me how much my parents were there for me, spending countless hours driving me to skating and softball practices. My children are still young and are exploring their options, but I can’t wait to see what activities they will fall in love and flourish in. I have always imagined driving them to practices, and cheering them on during games, and being their biggest fan. My dream was to become a mother, and my amazing children has made that possible. No matter what choices they make in life, I will always be standing behind them 100%.
