Every year I look forward to the memories that we’ll make during the holiday season. One of my favorite memories is decorating the gingerbread houses. Ever since I can remember the breakfast bar at my mother’s house gets transformed into a gingerbread city the second week of December, covered with gingerbread houses, Santa and his sleigh, a train and Christmas trees. It was one of my most favorite memories growing up in addition to decorating sugar cookies, and it’s now my children’s favorite activity when visiting their grandmother in December.
Living in New England, building snowmen and s’mores by the fire are also at the top of the list. We’re so used to freezing cold temps during December that we’re always bundled up and in long sleeves or sweaters during this time of the year. Last year we went to Florida the week before Christmas and while Disney World was decorated with holiday decorations, it didn’t feel like Christmas as we were in shorts and flip-flops, to us it still felt like summer.

It’s not too often I can find matching outfits for all three kids. Of course I had to do a load of laundry the second we walked in the door so they could all wear their matching jammies to bed.
It melts my heart how much the older boys love their baby brother. I love these special moments spending time as a family.
