Fiona the Hippo captured hearts around the world last year when she was born at only 29 pounds, half the weight of normal baby hippos. She soon became an internet sensation as the Cincinnati Zoo chronicled her journey to health on social media and through a blog. While my son’s 2nd grade classroom didn’t follow Fiona, they did follow a few different animal births last year on social media and it gave them a real life perspective and something to look forward to.
Fiono the Hippo quickly captured our hearts as we read the story this past week. Reading the book sparked conversation between my older children, and we soon found ourselves researching online to get an update on Fiona.

About the Author
