Strider Balance Bike With Strider Rocking Base

Just in time for the holidays, Strider, the world’s premier manufacturer of children’s no-pedal balance bikes, has introduced the Strider Rocking Base. The Strider Rocking Base attaches to the 12-inch Strider Bike for the youngest riders. The Strider bike is designed for children ages 18 months to 5 years, and children as young as 12 month can use it with the rocking base.

Balance bikes started to become popular a few years ago. I used to think they were just another “ride on toy” but after seeing the effect that it had on my middle son at three-year old I was left speechless. The results were amazing, he went from riding his no pedal balance bike for 2 months straight to a pedal bike with no training wheels. I can remember the day like it was yesterday, taking the training wheels off of his pedal bike and have him taking off like he had been riding a bike for years.

The balance bike taught him how to balance using his body instead of relying on training wheels. The same week I had to teach my 6 year old how to ride a bike without training wheels. I watched him as he struggled and constantly get discouraged since his little brother could already ride a pedal bike.  I now recommend a balance bike for any toddler or young child and then go straight to a pedal bike without training wheels.

The new Strider Rocking Base is purchased separately from the balance bike and allows even younger children, 12-24 months to use a Strider bike. Use it as a rocker while baby is young and once they are old enough the base can be removed to use the balance bike to ride around, usually around 18 months. Children grow so quickly and the Rocking Base allows the Strider to grow with the child. My two older children loved their rocking horse, but they soon outgrew it.

Instead of a rocking horse, my youngest will be rocking with the Strider Bike. Once he old enough, we can store the rocking base and he will be able to ride his Strider Bike. With the new addition of the rocking base, children can use the Strider Bike from 12 months up until around the age of 3-5 when they are ready for a pedal bike.

I have heard a lot about these bikes & people seem to really like them. If it helps kids learn to ride a bike (& helps them learn balance & coordination), then go for it!
