For the past few weeks our family has been building our Heroic Habits, not only by improving our oral care but also with the meals that we eat. The boys are big into routines and lists so we decided to make a Heroic Habits checklist for morning time as well as night-time. The boys enjoy being able to check off every item on their list and at the end of the week if everything is checked off they earn a fun activity. This week it was visiting Bass Pro Shops for a Halloween craft.
Our oral care Heroic Habits include brushing our teeth and flossing every morning, as well as brushing, flossing with LISTERINE Cool Mint Floss or LISTERINE Ultra Clean Access Flosser, and swishing LISTERINE Smart Rinse Anticavity Fluoride Rinse at night. I have found that a timer works best and Jonathan automatically sets the timer when it’s time to brush his teeth. Once he is finished it is Trevor’s turn to brush his teeth, and the timer gets set back to 2 minutes. Once their teeth are brushed, it’s on to floss time, followed by a game of who can swish the LISTERINE Smart Rinse Anticavity Fluoride Rinse for one minute. Trevor’s still working on the one minute mark but can now easily do 30 seconds.
I have found that by meal prepping we are able to improve our food choices for an overall healthy lifestyle. Every weekend I compile a list of recipes to make for the week and I prep all of the school lunches for the week as well as snacks. I’m working on lunches for myself and my husband and I’m hoping to start prepping those on Sunday starting next week. We make bento style lunches, and the boys enjoy being able to pick out fresh fruits and vegetables for their snacks. They are just as happy eating a red pepper as they are a chocolate cookie. While I still occasionally surprise them with a homemade cookie, they are more than happy to have fresh strawberries, clementines, carrots, and cucumbers.
