Creating a #HappyBalance With The Back-To-School Rush

Giveaways

I received compensation from McDonald’s in exchange for writing this review. Although this is a sponsored post, all opinions are my own.

While I usually do pretty good with meal prepping, freezer meals and planning our meals at least a week in advanced, I’ve been slacking for the last two weeks. I thought with Jonathan heading off to school I would have more time to get things done, but those hours are spent getting caught up on housework/work, and keeping Trevor busy. I’m hoping as soon as he heads off to preschool in two weeks I can finally get the house back in order and the freezer stocked, since fall sports will be starting shortly. Having pre-made meals ready to put in the crock-pot helps to reduce the stress of wondering what to make for dinner especially with after school activities almost every day during the week.

In addition to meal prepping, one thing that has been helping to keep things a little more calm, especially at night is by getting into a good routine. Every night is the same and as soon as 6:45pm rolls around the kids are off to brush their teeth, take baths, get into pajamas, and have quiet time – either a puzzle or a bedtime story before they get tucked into bed by 7:30pm. We’ve made the mistake of letting the routine slide a few nights and the next morning was disastrous with grumpy tired kids. So we learned our lesson, no more late nights unless it’s the weekend.

It’s important to take a break from the home cooked meals and enjoy aa fun night, with take out once in awhile. It’s nice not having to spend the night in the kitchen prepping and cleaning up after dinner. Jonathan and Tyler’s go-to place is McDonalds, especially with their Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt option.

That’s right, you now have the option of Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt with the $2.99 Happy Meals in addition to the Apple Slices, and later this fall you can expect to see Cuties clementines from Sun Pacific included as a Happy Meal side as well. Apples & yogurt, two of my children’s favorite sides. At 50 calories per serving, Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt is a good source of vitamin D and calcium. Parents have the option of making informed decision by choosing Apple Slices and Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt in place of a kids-size fry.

Our 3 Tips for Back-To-School Survival:

  1. Meal plan/ prep lunches and stock the freezer with easy to make lunches and dinners. We do a lot of crock-pot meals during the school year.
  2. Stick to night time schedule
  3. Take a break, and enjoy a fun night with no cooking/cleaning.
