Prepare cake mix according to directions. Separate cake mix evenly into 3 bowls, add red food coloring to one and blue food coloring to another, mix each bowl until well blended. Leave the third bowl white.
Fill each cone about 3/4 full of batter, alternating with the red, white, and blue colors. Use a toothpick or butter knife to swirl. Make sure not to over mix as colors will blend.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 to 18 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Frost when cooled, frost and top with sprinkles or patriotic cupcake decorations (Fun Pix).
*To get the red, white, and blue swirl, separate white frosting into three bowls, add red food coloring to one, and blue food coloring to a second. Mix each until well blended. Use the Wilton Color Swirl with the 1M tip to create the swirl pattern.
