His pedal bike is heavier, I noticed since I sometimes have to carry it back when we go on walks, but he doesn't seem to notice and has learned to push the pedals backwards to stop. It took some getting used to as he would always slam on the breaks.

Awesome! We bought our son a Strider balance bike when he was about 23 months, and in a matter of months, he was zipping and coasting all over the place. He's 3.5 now, and we just tried a bike without training wheels yesterday, and he was riding pretty well. The bike is way heavier than his balance bike, so he has difficulty stopping and standing by himself, but I may look for a lighter bike for him to ride until he gets stronger. Did you son have any difficulties with the weight of his pedal bike?

Wow, a bike with no pedals! I totally get the concept though after watching the first video! It makes sense that kids can learn balance with the Burley bike over time, so switching to pedals and no training wheels must become much easier. I'm sure since Jacob is practicing with the balance bike that he'll be zooming just like Tyler very soon!

That is so cool! Mason can ride for literally MILES on his balance bike and we've been super impressed with his ability on it. But he totally hasn't figured out how to pedal yet (he has a tricycle and a big wheel) so maybe next spring we'll try a big kid bike.
