How to make Rice Krispie Easter Eggs

What you’ll need to make these Rice Krispie Easter treats:

  • plastic snap apart Easter eggs
  • 40 regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 cup jelly beans or m&ms
  • Frosting or decorating gel (optional if you want to decorate)

Directions:

In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.

Using greased (buttered) hands, firmly press the cereal mixture into each plastic egg half. Use fingers to make hollow center in each half. Remove from molds. Place on wax paper. Allow to slightly cool.

Add two or three Jelly beans to the center and press two ends of the egg together to close.

Decorate with frosting and additional candies if desired.

Ingredients
  • 12 Plastic snap-apart Easter eggs
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 package 10 oz., about 40 regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
  • 1/2 cup M&M'S® or Jelly Beans
  • Canned frosting or decorating gel optional
Instructions
  1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
  3. Using greased hands, firmly press the cereal mixture into each plastic egg half. Use fingers to make hollow center in each half. Remove from molds. Place on wax paper. Cool slightly.
  4. Place about 3 jelly beans or M&M’S® in one half of each egg. Gently press two halves of each egg together until they stick. Cool completely.
  5. Add two or three Jelly beans to the center and press two ends of the egg together to close.

  6. Decorate with frosting and additional candies if desired.

Make sure you wash the plastic Easter Eggs before the first use. You can use any size including large, medium, or small or even use your hands to mold egg shapes.
