Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, I never get tired of eating pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs and omelets. I often eat “breakfast” for lunch and dinner, something my husband is not fond of, he prefers eggs and breakfast items only in the morning.
When I got the chance to try IHOP’s new Griddle Melts, I couldn’t pass it up, there are three varieties offered and the Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese Griddle Melt looked delicious.
Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese- Sautéed spinach in a fluffy egg omelet topped with roasted red peppers, onions, melted Provolone, Parmesan and Pepper Jack cheeses on grilled artisan sourdough bread. Served with your choice of hash browns, French fries or seasonal fruit.
Western- Smoked ham and sautéed peppers and onions in a classic omelet, topped with sliced ham, melted American cheese and served on grilled artisan sourdough bread. Served with your choice of hash browns, French fries or seasonal fruit.
Ham & Egg Melt- Sliced ham and melted Swiss and American cheeses over a fluffy egg omelet served on grilled artisan sourdough bread. Served with your choice of hash browns, French fries or seasonal fruit.
Yesterday the boys and I headed to IHOP for a late breakfast, I’m not a big fan of ham so I decided on the Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese Griddle Melt, the boys don’t really like eggs and each chose smiley face pancakes.
The Griddle Melts are available as a half sandwich or a full sandwich, with the choice of fries, hash browns or fresh fruit. I chose the half size with fresh fruit, I’m glad I chose the half size as it was more then filling, and I even had a few bites left over. Having an omelet on a sandwich is something I have never thought about, and something that I will have to have again. Although the whole sandwich was delicious, I was especially a fan of the pepper jack cheese and toasted buttery bread. I also liked having the choice of sides, most places charge extra to substitute fresh fruit for fries, but with the Griddle Melts you got to choose the side without an extra cost. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their pancakes, which were huge. Jacob asked if he could bring home his leftovers, and he ate them last night for dinner.
