Tsukihoshi Children’s Shoes {Review & Giveaway}

When it comes to shoe shopping it is important that the boys have not only have a stylish shoe, but they need to be comfortable and supportive. Since they are always on their feet running around, arch support and flexibility is a must. I recently came across Tsukihoshi and fell in love with their stylish designs. Tsukihoshi was established in 1873 and is one of Japan’s oldest footwear
companies. They combine modern & innovative design with centuries-old
Japanese craftsmanship and artistry. Tsukihoshi shoes are available in infant, child, and youth sizes and are made with four special features in mind.

  • Balanced Landing: Children’s feet may tend to over-pronate (land on the arch side) when walking. As a result, children need more stability in their shoes. Our solid half sock board and a solid heel counter help to provide this stability in the heel area.
  • Arch Support: Like many parts of a child’s foot, the arch of a child’s foot is not yet fully formed. Our ”Molded Cup Insole” is designed for children’s arches while helping to neutralize foot odor.
  • Light & Flexible: Children’s feet can not bend and kick forward well because they are not yet fully developed. Our latest innovation, a “Flex-Joint Outsole” helps to allow children’s feet to be nd along the line from the joint of the big toe to that of the little toe.
  • Barefoot Like Comfort: Excessive inward tilting towards the arches when walking and running is very common among children. Our ”Comfortable Shoe Last” provides space in the toe area to help keep the child’s toe in an unrestricted position, allowing them to splay on contact with the ground.

While browsing through the Tsukihoshi Spring 2012 catalog there were so many shoes that I loved. I was impressed by all of the styles and was a huge fan of the velcro on the shoes instead of laces that tie. Little Man and Baby Boy do not know how to tie their shoes yet so velcro is perfect and lets allows the boys to put their shoes on themselves. I decided on a pair of Child 20 for Little Man and chose the “SPEED” color – navy & white.

Little Man is usually quite picky with which sneakers he will wear but he loves his new Tsukihoshi shoes and so do I, especially the blue, silver, white colors. The Child 20 are machine washable which is great for all those spring muddy days, I don’t have to worry about Little Man’s getting his shoes all dirty. I was quite impressed to know that they have an antibacterial insole which helps to fight odor.

Overall, I am quite impressed with the Tsukihoshi Child 20 shoes, they offer support and comfort for Little Man’s growing feet. Little Man also gives his Tsukihoshi shoes a big thumbs up, he calls him his “super fast” sneakers and swears that they make him run faster.
