As we begin the 21st century there is a high need for teachers especially in high-need secondary schools.  States are raising the bar to educate students to higher standards and the pressure is on more then ever to have a better graduation rate. The Woodrow Wilson Teach Fellowship is there to help those schools.

The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship is a highly selective program that provides recent college graduates and career changers in the areas of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) with a $30,000 stipend to complete a master’s degree program at one of fourteen participating universities. In return you will have to teach in a high-need secondary school in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio for 3 years following the completion of your master's degree.

If you are a current undergraduate, recent college graduate, mid-career professional, or a retiree who majored in or worked in STEM fields you can qualify for the program.

All accepted candidates are responsible for passing the mandatory teaching license exams for the state where they would like to teach.


Competitive candidates will:
- Have completed an undergraduate degree in a STEM field by June 2011.
- Have graduated with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the program and its goals.

Fellows will:
- Complete a field-based master’s degree in teacher education.
- Commit to teach for at least three years in a high-need school.
- Receive intensive support and mentoring in the classroom.
